Ruth Porat, President and Chief Investment Officer of Alphabet, discussed the company’s evolving strategy during the Reuters NEXT conference earlier this month. She emphasized the application of AI in enhancing Google’s search engine, which continues to be a major revenue generator for the company.

The integration of AI-generated insights into search results aims to address competitive pressures from emerging platforms such as OpenAI's ChatGPT. However, Porat acknowledged the complexity of ensuring accuracy and reliability, especially in mitigating instances where AI produces misleading or incorrect information, often referred to as "hallucinations."
