Sify Technologies, a leading data center operator, has announced its readiness to support AI servers with advanced liquid cooling technology. The company, which operates 12 data centers across six cities in India, is now an NVIDIA colocation partner. This certification means Sify's data centers in Mumbai-Rabale, Noida, and Chennai-Siruserri can support up to 7-8 GPU servers per rack, with a capacity of approximately 130 kilowatts per rack.

CEO Sharad Agarwal explained that AI workloads require significant power and cooling, making specialized infrastructure essential. Liquid cooling, which involves immersing servers in coolant to manage heat, is becoming the standard for AI processing, reducing reliance on traditional water and air cooling methods.

Despite the higher operational costs associated with supporting GPUs compared to regular CPU servers, Sify is now well-positioned to join the IndiaAI Mission and collaborate with the right partners. Agarwal emphasized that Sify's infrastructure is uniquely suited to accommodate a wide range of AI workloads.

Currently, Sify operates with a capacity of 190 MW across its data centers and plans to expand to 350 MW in the next few years. The company recently received a Rs 600 crore investment from Kotak Data Center Fund to further expand its data center capacity and invest in renewable energy.
