On the evening of October 4, 2024, visitors to Lego's website were surprised to see a banner promoting a fake cryptocurrency called "Lego Coin." The banner displayed golden coins with the Lego logo and promised "secret rewards" for those who bought the new coin.

However, Lego had no plans to launch any cryptocurrency, and the banner was part of a scam. Clicking on the link directed users to an external site selling fake "LEGO Tokens" using Ethereum.

The breach happened overnight while Lego's headquarters was closed. The company responded swiftly, removing the fraudulent banner and links. By the next day, the legitimate Lego Fortnite collaboration banner was back on the site.

Lego assured its customers that no user accounts were compromised, and the issue has been resolved. The company has identified the cause of the hack but did not share further details. Lego is now working on measures to prevent future incidents of this nature.

In a statement, Lego said: "No user accounts have been compromised, and customers can continue shopping as usual. The cause has been identified, and we are implementing measures to prevent this from happening again."
